Lieu Xa Primary School is located in Lieu Xa Commune, Yen My District, Hung Yen Province. The commune is a mix of urban and rural area because of its close proximity to one of the many major industrial zones of Hung Yen. The villagers of Lieu Xa work in factories or farm the vast open rice fields. The factories are a major draw for laborers from the Lieu Xa village, and from many others province. Many students of Lieu Xa Primary School have family in the industrial workforce. While the growing industrial economy helps to improve livelihoods in the region, incomes remain low, causing financial strain, particularly for the education expenses of the children.

The school buys bottled water for the students and teachers because there is not a safe of source drinking water. The nearby well is contaminated and can only be for cleaning, and to make the bathrooms function There are many concerns for student hygiene because they use this water source. By eliminating the expense and pollution caused by bottled water with a community water filtration system, it will reduce the financial burden on the school and the families in the community.

"We would like to thank Columbia Sportswear and the organization for giving us the water tower. This is a gift which has a lot of meaning to us; we will use it efficiently to replace the bottle water and we will keep it in good condition for long-term usage."
- School Principal, Ms. Huong
