Thanh Long Primary School is located in Thanh Long Commune, Yen My District, Hung Yen Province. The commune has followed the model of new rural development, having all internal roads covered with concrete or asphalt and a diversified economy with focus on agriculture, industrial and services. Many locals are still loyal to working their farms that have been passed through many generations. Many residents have moved to service jobs or work for the many factories in the region. Although, the average income of the community has increased as a result of the increased industrial opportunity, wages are still relatively low with families living very modestly on basic income.

The school has a well to supply water for domestic uses such as cleaning and flushing; however, they still have to buy bottle water for drinking daily because the well is contaminated. Bottled water is very costly to the school because of their high consumption. With a clean water filtration system at the school, the families and school will have more budget for their education and facilities.

"This program is very meaningful to us, we hope that a lot of schools in Vietnam will have the opportunity to join this program, so that we don’t have to buy bottle water. On behalf of the school, we would like to say thanks very much to the donor and the program organization."
- School Principal, Ms. Thuan
