Previous Response Events
Response Stories
The Super Typhoon
Typhoon Yagi delivered a colossal deluge of rain in Vietnam on September 7, 2024. In what is considered one of the strongest storms to hit the country in three decades, widespread flooding and landslides damaged nearly 190,000 homes, and impacted around three million people.
Planet Water’s response was initiated within hours, with AquaTower water filtration systems deployed in some of the hardest-hit areas in Yen Bai Province.
A Catastrophic Storm
Classified as a Category 5 Hurricane, Otis made landfall over the coastal city of Acapulco, central Guerrero State, southern Mexico in the early morning of October 25, 2023 causing floods and landslides, killing and injuring dozens of people.
In cooperation with Coordinación Nacional de Protección Civil, Planet Water Foundation deployed a total of ten water filtration systems in the disaster zone in 2 phases.
A Devastating Impact
Morocco was rattled by a powerful 6.8-magnitude earthquake in September, 2023 claiming almost 3,000 lives. Homes and structures across the High Atlas Mountains were destroyed, leaving the area barely recognisable. Planet Water Foundation’s response commenced with the airlifting of AquaBlock emergency water systems from our global logistics hub into Casablanca, from where they were transported via land into the disaster zone. In total our response supported up to 60,000 people with safe drinking water.
Mass Devastation
On February 6, 2023 a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck south central Türkiye. Just 11 minutes later, it was followed by a magnitude 6.7 aftershock. The devastation resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and the destruction of countless buildings.
Planet Water Foundation, with support of Xylem, coordinated with Turkish disaster management agency AFAD and the Red Crescent to bring AquaBlock emergency water systems into the most severely affected provinces of Adiyaman, Kahramanmaras and Hatay where they were deployed in evacuation camps where survivors had been relocated.
