A principios de octubre de 2020, un tifón extremo y lluvias en Camboya causaron inundaciones y deslizamientos de tierra mortales sin precedentes. En la provincia más afectada de Banteay Meanchey, más de 4,200 familias se vieron obligadas a evacuar a tiendas de campaña improvisadas situadas en la carretera principal, que están elevadas por encima de sus aldeas inundadas. El acceso a alimentos, agua y saneamiento básico fue una gran lucha para estas familias.

Under the direction of the Banteay Meanchey Provincial authorities, Planet Water’s Cambodia team mobilized the water supply systems in the Bot Trang and Se Soen emergency encampments in Banteay Meanchey.

" My house was destroyed by the floodwaters, all our livestock were killed, we lost our jobs and my children's school is closed down. When we first arrived at this safety camp, we encountered issues with lack of access to water, electricity and latrines. We are lucky that we have Electrolux supporting this clean drinking water system in this critical situation otherwise we would have to find a way to pay for clean water or boil water by ourselves."

We are concerned over returning home because we have many hardships to overcome now - we are running out money, my kids are not well, and we need help from the local authority to rebuild my house. Fortunately, we have clean drinking water now which has helped us a lot. "
