Planet Water Foundation’s Disaster Response team is on the ground in Albay, Philippines, responding to the escalating humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing activity of Mayon Volcano. Approximately 280,000 people have been impacted by the eruption, with thousands of families forced to flee their homes due to persistent ashfall, lava flows, and hazardous conditions. As communities face displacement and disrupted access to essential services, the need for safe drinking water has become increasingly urgent. To support affected families, Planet Water Foundation has deployed emergency water solutions designed to provide immediate access to clean drinking water and improved hygiene in disaster-affected areas. Our Disaster Response team deployed an AquaBlock Emergency Water System in the community of Camalig. The AquaBlock system is capable of producing up to 700 liters of safe drinking water per hour, helping provide a reliable source of clean water for displaced families and surrounding communities. In addition, the team has been distributing hundreds of our new AquaSafe Water Filter & Hygiene Station in Guinobatan and Daraga to help provide families with a means to access safe drinking water where local water sources have been disrupted and damaged.

The AquaSafe is a portable, easy-to-use system that enables families to transform water from wells, rivers, and streams into potable drinking water. The system also includes soap dispensing for handwashing and a hand shower to support improved hygiene during crisis situations.

Access to clean water is critical during emergencies. Without safe drinking water and proper hygiene, vulnerable communities face increased risks of waterborne illness and other health challenges. Planet Water Foundation remains committed to supporting families affected by the Mayon Volcano crisis by delivering reliable, life-saving water solutions when they are needed most.
