Water Quality Products - July 1, 2021: Access to clean water is something that people in developed nations take for granted. However, it is a daily challenge for a huge number of people around the world, with the latest UN figures showing 2.2 billion people globally lacking access to safely managed water. Planet Water Foundation is a nonprofit organization which was setup to help address this challenge. With a mission to transform the health and well-being of children in the world’s most impoverished communities through providing access to safe drinking water, the organization was established in 2009 and has deployed more than 1,500 projects across 15 countries, bringing clean water to more than 2 million beneficiaries.
Mexico City, June 2, 2021. To provide access to clean, safe drinking water and handwashing stations to people in Mexico, Starbucks, The Starbucks Foundation and Planet Water Foundation have partnered to deploy an AquaTower water filtration system in the El Refugio community, in the state of Aguascalientes. With a population of 500 people, El Refugio located around one hour from the capital city of Aguascalientes, and residents previously drank and cooked with water that came from a contaminated well. Water is a basic necessity for life, however, according to the United Nations, 2.2 billion people, or 3 in 10 people worldwide, lack safely managed drinking water, and 3 billion people lack basic handwashing facilities. May 4, 2021 3BL Media - Planet Water Foundation, a leading non-profit organization in the fight against global water poverty, has announced the extension of its partnership with The Starbucks Foundation.
With the partnership entering its 11th year, the two organizations have committed to deliver community-level clean water projects across eight countries in 2021 – reaching a combined total of 18,000 people in Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Mexico, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
