Problemas de agua y saneamiento en India

El acceso a agua segura en India es un desafío para una gran proporción de la población. Según datos de la ONU y UNICEF, el 44% de los hogares rurales en India carecen de acceso a un suministro de agua gestionado de manera segura y el 54% carecen de saneamiento seguro. La situación en las escuelas también es grave, con el 26% de las escuelas teniendo un servicio de agua limitado o inexistente y el 14% careciendo de acceso a cualquier tipo de saneamiento.

Planet Water Foundation ha estado activa en la India desde 2009 y ha implementado más de 660 proyectos de agua limpia durante este tiempo, proporcionando acceso a agua limpia y segura a más de 1 millón de personas.

Nuestro trabajo incluye el despliegue de cientos de sistemas de filtración de agua AquaTower que se han instalado en escuelas primarias de todo el país en conjunto con nuestro programa de educación sobre salud e higiene del agua. Juntas, nuestras soluciones están ayudando a llevar acceso a agua limpia y segura a estudiantes, docentes y miembros de las comunidades que rodean nuestros sitios de proyecto.

Actualmente, nuestro enfoque está en proyectos de agua limpia en Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu y Uttar Pradesh.
