The typhoon has brought catastrophic destruction, claiming at least 114 lives and displacing more than 400,000 people. Entire communities have been submerged, homes destroyed, and infrastructure severely damaged. Planet Water Foundation mobilized to the impacted regions of Cebu to provide support through the deployment of Emergency Water Filtration Systems to the hardest-hit communities, providing safe drinking water to families in desperate need.

The first AquaTower water filtration system was installed at Mohon Elementary School in Talisay City, where 214 families sheltering across 38 classrooms have been without reliable access to safe water since the storm. With this system in place, the community now has access to clean, safe drinking water as recovery efforts continue.

This was followed by the deployment of an AquaBlock emergency water filtration system at the Talisay Sports Academy Evacuation Center, where 270 families are currently sheltering. The AquaBlock is capable of producing 700 liters of safe drinking water per hour and is a critical resource helping families meet their daily needs and represents an essential step in helping the community rebuild and start again.

A third system was installed at San Isidro Elementary School in Barangay San Isidro, where 280 families are seeking safety and stability after the storm. With the deployment of an AquaTower here, evacuees and members of the surrounding community of Barangay San Isidro now have access to safe water. This critical resource is a vital first step in helping families rebuild and easing one of the many burdens they face in the aftermath. Thank you to the donors who made this response possible: Concentrix, The Starbucks Foundation, Think Human Fund, and Xylem.
