Following the magnitude 7.4 earthquake which struck Chocó, Colombia, widespread devastation has hit the country’s western regions. More than 100 fatalities and hundreds of injuries have been reported, with homes, hospitals, and other essential infrastructure sustaining significant damage.
With widespread damage and disruption affecting essential services, access to safe drinking water is now a critical challenge for impacted communities.
Planet Water Foundation is on the ground in the affected region to provide support. Our work started with assessing conditions, coordinating with local partners, and we are now in the process of deploying water-filtration systems to communities in urgent need.
