Following the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake which hit Myanmar on March 28th, Planet Water Foundation undertook a major response to provide safe drinking water access to survivors.
Through the support of our Disaster Response Alliance partners, Planet Water Foundation’s Disaster Response team travelled into Myanmar, and immediately began work to identify suitable deployment sites for our water filtration systems, with a focus on areas with high levels of need. In parallel, Planet Water Foundation water filtration systems were transported into the disaster zone to be deployed as sites were confirmed.

With the support of our deployment partner, Rotary Club of Central Yangon, a total of 5 AquaTower water filtration systems were deployed in areas of Myanmar which suffered serious destruction to infrastructure and lives. This included deployments in major relocation camps and evacuation centers in the epicenter Sagaing, as well as in Mandalay, and Naypyitaw.

Combined, these water filtration systems are now providing safe water access to up to 10,000 people.

Each Planet Water Foundation AquaTower has the capacity to produce 1,000 liters of safe water per hour, taking water from sources such as borewells, and surface water from rivers, and passing it through a 3-stage filtration process to produce microbiologically safe drinking water.

Planet Water Foundation’s AquaBlock Emergency Water System provides clean, safe drinking water access when needed most in the wake of emergencies and natural disasters.
