On July 24, 2025, Typhoon Co-may (known as Typhoon Emong in the Philippines) struck the Philippines after more than a week of severe weather, causing flooding and mass evacuations. Over 80 towns and cities - mostly in Luzon - declared a state of calamity. In La Union Province, the hardest-hit area, electricity and water supplies were cut off, and tens of thousands of people displaced. Planet Water Foundation quickly mobilized a response through the support of our Disaster Response Alliance partners to provide safe drinking water to communities who had been impacted.
The response began with the deployment of an AquaBlock emergency water filtration system in Calincamasan Barangay, San Juan — turning contaminated well water into safe, clean water for drinking, cooking, and bathing.
This was followed by the deployment of an additional AquaBlock system at the Barangay Poro evacuation center. This facility serves four communities - Poro, San Agustin, San Francisco, and San Vicente and 1,181 families, who now have access to a source of safe water.
Planet Water Foundation’s AquaBlock Emergency Water System provides clean, safe drinking water access when needed most in the wake of emergencies and natural disasters.
