Water and Sanitation Issues in Bangladesh

Access to safe water in Bangladesh is a challenge for a significant proportion of the country’s population of 169 million people. According to UN and UNICEF data, 41% of households in Bangladesh lack access to a safely managed water supply and 61% lack safe sanitation. The situation in schools is also serious, with 19% of schools lacking basic water service and 43% lacking basic sanitation.

Planet Water
Foundation In Bangladesh

Planet Water Foundation’s work in Bangladesh commenced in 2019 with the objective of addressing the issues around access to safe drinking water in the country.

Our work is focused on the deployment of our AquaTower water filtration systems which we have deployed in elementary schools in Bangladesh in conjunction with our water health and hygiene education program. Together, our solutions are helping to bring clean, safe water access to students, teachers and members of the communities surrounding our project sites.

Currently, our focus is on clean water projects in Kushtia.

The work you are doing is so important and deeply appreciated. We are grateful for Xylem's dedication in providing clean, safe water to our community.

Before the AquaTower installation, the students were using contaminated tubewell to access water. Now, the risk of them acquiring waterborne diseases is minimized. I am proud to help deploy this successful project.
