Water and Sanitation Issues in Mexico
Access to safe water in Mexico is a challenge for a significant proportion of the population. According to UN and UNICEF data, 57% of households in Mexico lack access to a safely managed water supply and 37% lack safe sanitation. The situation in schools is also serious, with 29% of schools lacking basic water service and 30% lacking basic sanitation.

Planet Water
Foundation In Mexico
Planet Water Foundation has been active in Mexico since 2019, and deployed over 225 clean water projects during this time, providing access to clean, safe water to over 400,000 people.
Our work is focused on the deployment of AquaTower water filtration systems which have been deployed in elementary schools across the country in conjunction with our water health and hygiene education program. Together, our solutions are helping to bring clean, safe water access to students, teachers and members of the communities surrounding our project sites.
Currently, our focus is on clean water projects in Chiapas, Estado de México, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Morelos, Neuvo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Veracruz, and Yucatán.
In addition, Planet Water Foundation has been active in disaster response work in Mexico, most recently in Acapulco following Hurricane Otis, and in Poza Rica, Veracruz following devastating floods.
